Evaluation of edit
For my first edit of my project I had to a great deal of colour correction to make sure my over exposed shots looked more creative and experimental rather than just overexposed shots from the sun. I used the colour wheels and played with the saturation, the sharpness and the contrast to make the colours of the shot look more brighter sharper and more colourful.I got this idea about making the colours pop out and look bright to stand out from watching music videos where there is uses of over exposure to make the shots look more interesting overall. This developed my skills in editing in a ways because I've never really had to deal with colour correcting shots so overexposed as mine, but because I wanted to experiment with this I played around with the colour settings to give it the image that me and izzy had already discussed for the image we were trying to portray.Another method I used in my editing for the first cut was uses of cutaways and non preformative footage to create some personality and light hearted relief to the izzy's performance. I did this by using my cutaways and shortening them in order to add quick shots which add the use of scenery to add some more variation of shots into the mix because of my lack of shot variation for performance reasons. After shortening the shots i put them on top of the footage I already cut and edited to make the cutaways. In terms of developing my editing skills this didn't actually push me, because i have done it quite a few times before but it was interesting to test it out on this type of film platform.
When producing my second edit to change it up I used a variety of colours schemes and filters for certain shots of the cut. I did this because my style for this video was heavily inspired by music videos such as 'Party Monster' by the weeknd and 'Butterfly Effect by 'Travis Scott' these videos use a range of colour effects to create strange and intriguing images which make the visual style of the video even more experimental, I wouldn't usually do this with any of my other work because I haven't really had the platform to use these types of experimentation, I have only recently learned colour correction and doing this developed my skills in realising that images can be manipulated to high degree in editing programs and being able to manipulate these images allows me to explore the use of colours and lighting in post production.Another feature I Implemented in my second edit was music, I added music because my client had asked me to add it onto the second edit because she wanted to know how the verses would sound with music, so because of this I mixed the instrumentals from two of izzy's favourite songs which was 'Thug Life' by 21 Savage and 'Everybody dies in their nightmares'by xxxtentacion. adding these instrumentals into the piece was very interesting because I thought the style of beats I picked fitted izzy's flow and lyrical content very well. I learned from this that when editing music with speech involved, the sound has to be mixed to well in order to make sure everything is balanced well so all the volume levels are correct so the speech and music is clear together. Overall I think my editing for this project went well, I had to change a large amount to make sure everything looked to a sustainable level of quality. From editing this project I have learned that colour correction is very helpful with making your images look better it is also very helpful when you want to experiment into creating images that you wouldn't produce and edit. I think that myedit went well, even though my some of my footage came out quite bad before editing, I was able to create some more interesting images using the effects on premiere.
